April at Trillium Hill Farm

News from the Farm

Hello from the farm. We are so grateful for spring to be here. Somehow prepping for the season has felt harder than the initial execution this year, and we are happy to to be executing! The last few weeks have seen us opening the farmstand, diving into our Spring CSA shares (harvesting lots of greens!), and beginning to plant outside!

This year we are welcoming back three of our amazing crew members: Sam, Meg, and Kasie. We also have a new hire: Orenna. Two more fabulous folks (Austin and Anna) will join us in May and June. This stellar crew is the heartbeat of operations- keeping the plants happy, the veggies clean, and the farmstand stocked.

The veggies have been bountiful. We're gobbling up greens (kale, lettuce, spinach, raab, sorrel, arugula, minutina, cress, mizuna, claytonia!) which feels like the best thing to do this time of year, and the radishes and scallions will be here soon! Seedings are cozy and warm in the new propagation house, which means summer is really around the corner.

I'm including a delicious greens recipe from local chef Amanda Webb if you're looking for something to do with all that freshness besides a salad. Read on for that recipe and a few more announcements!

Goings on

Coltsfoot spotted on the farm!

The farm is a great place to walk right now while some of the popular hiking trails are still too wet and the spring ephemerals are starting to bloom! Come take a walk!

Farm Stand Together

We're partnering with Farm Stand Together this year to get farmstand gift cards to those who can't afford them. Because everyone should eat good food! Click on the link to apply or donate.

How we grow

Ever wondered what our growing practices are all about? What does it mean to be certified organic? What is low-till? We answer your questions here!

Summer is coming!

We have ten spots left in our Growing Season CSA Share. Pickups are on Mondays from 3-7 at our farmstand. Different sizes and payment plans are available. Farmstand Shares are available too!

Come Say hello at the farmstand

On April 18th from 4-6pm we will host the first of several "Farmstand Visiting Hours." Because we are a self-serve farmstand, we don't always see you. Sara will be at the farmstand offering samples of a couple of farmstand products (TBD which ones yet!). This is a time to come ask questions about the farm, sample products, share a recipe, and simply say hi! Hope to see you there!

As always, thanks for eating with us! We are so grateful for your support, and we know the other farms we work with are too.

Sara, James, and the THF crew
