News from the Farm
November, 2024
Dear Trillium Hill Farm Community,
As we move into the heart of autumn and prepare for winter, we’re grateful for the incredible season we’ve shared with you. From abundant harvests to crazy climate events, this year has been a reminder of why we do what we do.
In this month’s update, you’ll find details about our winter growing, a few remaining spots in our Fall CSA, and some heartfelt thank-you's. As we prepare to close our farmstand for the season, we look forward to some rest and cozy time in the kitchen and in front of the fireplace and wish the same to you. In the spring we will no doubt be excited to welcome you back for another year of growth, nourishment, and community connection.
Thank you for making this season so special and thanks for reading!
Winter Crops Now in the Hoophouses
Our greenhouses are fully planted and ready to provide a steady stream of fresh greens which will go to our CSA members and wholesale accounts through the colder months. We plan on weather-dependent harvests from now through March of spinach, lettuce, kale, salad turnips, carrots, claytonia, minutuna, frisée, arugula, Asian greens, mustards, sorrel, cress, and dandelion greens.
Fall CSA Shares Still Available
As fall deepens, there's still room to join our Fall CSA share! Our Greens Share or Medley Share are a great way to enjoy the farm’s seasonal abundance while supporting local agriculture. Every share directly supports our commitment to bringing you the healthiest, freshest, and cleanest organic food we can provide. The Fall Share filled up to our planned 60 shares, but we decided to add ten more spots as crops are looking great and abundant in this warm weather we've been having.
Bake Sale Success!
We’re incredibly proud to share that our daughter Ruby and her friends raised over $350 this past weekend for the Hinesburg Food Shelf (HCRC) at our farmstand. Huge thanks to each of you who stopped by, bought baked goods, and cheered them on! Your support brought them a lot of joy and will nourish our neighbors.
Farmstand Closing for the Season
It’s hard to believe the end of the season is upon us. Our farmstand will officially close for the season on Sunday, November 17, and will reopen in April 2025. We’ve loved seeing you this year! Please swing by to stock up on local goods for the winter and spend down your farmstand shares! We appreciate you!
Garlic Planted, Wrapping up the Fields for Winter
The crew planted garlic last week, marking the end of our big field tasks list before winter settles in. For several members of our team, including Sam K and Nola (pictured above), this was their last job of the season. We loved having them both and were lucky to have such a strong crew in 2024. Meg, who is responsible for making the farmstand marvelous, has also wrapped up her seasonal work with us.
We’re grateful to them—and to all of you—for another amazing year. Together, we’re building a food community focused on quality, sustainability, and health.
In good food, healthy soil, and lots of gratitude,
